Using Levels

Most photo-editors provide a way to control the tonal value distribution in an image. 'Levels' is most often used to describe this adjustment process.

While the 'Levels' adjustment is based upon mathematical manipulation of the pixel data in you image file, using the Levels adjustment is much more a process of trial and error, and personal preference, than it is a scientific procedure.
