Lesson 8 - Removing Red-eye


Red-eye is the bright red color seen in the eyes of subjects photographed using the camera's built-in flash. A detailed explanation of the cause of this phenomenon was presented in the Lesson on flash in the Camera section of this guide.

Despite the best efforts of camera manufacturers and photographers to prevent it, red-eye will inevitably happen to you if you take enough flash pictures.

In this lesson we'll show you how to use your photo-editor to remove red-eye.

The example at right is typical of the problem. This portrait of an otherwise beautiful young woman is ruined by the ghoulish red blotches in her eyes.
